Trunch Community Composting Open Day

As part of Compost Awareness Week 2010, Trunch Community Composting Scheme in Trunch, Norfolk will be opening their site to local residents on 8th May from 11am-3pm. This will be TCCSs first opportunity to show village residents what happens to their green waste.Visitors will see demonstrations of all composting operations and thereby gain an understanding and appreciation of the composting process and be encouraged to join TCCS as volunteers.

Open day activities will include:

  • demonstrations on how to build a New Zealand compost box. 
  • demonstrations of how the project is run (including sorting, weighting and recording)
  • rain water collection demonstrations
  • all day demonstration of compost sieving
  • shredder demonstration
  • home composting support and advice from two Master Composters (from 9am)
There will be  refreshments and  plenty of time and scope for composting talk which will include how using peat free compost saves important habitat and how to spot peat free compost.
