International Compost Awareness Week 2-8th May 2010
We are able to contribute funding towards your Compost Awareness Week events again this year thanks to generous support from WRAP. As in 2008 you will need to submit your ideas for your event, and we are planning for around £200 per event with more for any of a particularly creative or innovative nature, but they would have to be good to warrant more money and subsequently less money for others, more opportunities for more is our main aim.
There will be a focus this year on home composting and peat replacement. The peat agenda is long overdue a revisit - in 1998 the Government set a target of 90% reduction of peat use by 2010, one visit to your local garden centre will show you just how far we are from meeting this target. As it was a founding principle of the CCN and need readdressing in the light of carbon sinks for green house gases then we're really pleased that WRAP are also highlighting this issue. We'll be sending out more information in the near future but thought you'd appreciate the extra planning time. |
